I am grateful for the work which Dr. Shapiro did with EMDR and the training which I received. Every time someone is helped on their journey in this life, Dr. Shapiro has enabled that to happen.

I was profoundly saddened at the news of Francine Shapiro’s death. I send condolences to her family and friends and hope that their love for her eases the pain of her passing. For me, her contributions to developing the EMDR modality revolutionized my psychiatric practice. I’ve used EMDR since 1995 and continue to upgrade my skills because it has helped so many of my patients release the pain of their past in a way that psychodynamic psychotherapy could not. I will be forever grateful to Francine for this gift.

Francine Shapiro, though I never knew her personally, was a great source of inspiration as to her genius and ability to discover and develop this great modality of EMDR. She will be greatly missed though her legacy continues to live on through her work. My sincerest of condolences to the family and friends that she has left behind.

I would like to offer my deepest condolences to Francine’s family. So sad that her life has ended – she gave the world so much and we all benefit from the therapy she created. It has changed how I do therapy with clients and I see how powerful it is every day. We are so lucky to have had her on this earth!

My deepest sympathies and condolences to Family for the loss of their loved one. The rest of the world has lost a courageous spirit who brought light into darkness that many have known and experienced both personally and professionally. Thank-you for inspiring courage and brilliance your legacy will live on in the millions of people impacted by EMDR. “I would have liked to have known you but I was just a kid your candle burned out long before your legend ever did” Elton John.

I can not express in words how deeply moved I feel about Francine Shapiro’s passing. The EMDR treatment drastically changed my life, so much that I chose to returned to my studies to become a psychotherapist and use the EMDR protocol in my daily practice. She is my icon and surpasses the research of Freud’s, in my personal and professional opinion. As I continue to morn for Francine, I can only imagine how deeply effected her family and close friends have been impacted. I send my deep heart felt condolences to all of you. My greatest desire in life is to leave it with as much contribution to the human race as Francine achieved in hers.  Much love and thanks,

Merci d’avoir développé un pan d’intervention si important, à la rescousse de tant de gens blessés. Et pour toute la pensée humanitaire que l’EMDR a contribué à enrichir.

ANDRE GAGNON / 2019/06/27 at 11:59 pm

I am so grateful for the opportunity to offer EMDR Therapy to the clients that I worked with in a community agency setting and now in my private practice. EMDR has helped me as a clinician to help others by gaining a deeper understanding of how the brain functions when impacted by the devastating effects of trauma. I will continue to study Dr. Shapiro’s research and teachings. I hope Dr. Shapiro’s family will find some comfort in knowing that around the world, Dr. Shapiro’s presence will continue to enter the clinical rooms where those in need come to seek support. My heartfelt condolences to Dr. Shapiro’s family.

Dr Shapiro’s discovery and work is one of the most amazing things I have found. I wish I had met her in person. Her brilliance and compassion were a gift to what I had long looked for, and changed the way I work – thank you to her for the gift to often quickly being able to relieve the suffering of others. May she find everlasting peace and joy!
