Mindful based Psychotherapy, Narrative therapy, Collaborative Problem Solving, EMDR and CBT are all tools that I use to help my clients change their lens towards suffering, stress and parental and work life challenges. I’m a BIG fan of skill-based counselling. As such I am inspired by Dr. Ross Greene’s “Collaborative & Pro-active Solutions” (CPS), Dr. Dan Siegel’s “Mindsight” teachings, Susan Keiser Greenland’s playful mindfulness approaches, Jon Kabat-Zinn’s brilliant work on secular mindfulness and Sharon Salzberg’s compassionate teachings on “ lovingkindness”. ​

As one who worked for years in supporting clients through trauma, I’m also trained in EMDR, with special training to work with pre-adolescents and teens. Finally, I’ve spent the last two years focusing my training on secular Mindfulness and have been trained by UCSan Diego’s Centre for Mindfulness to teach the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course. I bring many of the resources of this program (i.e., mindful meditation, inquiry and skill based teachings about the brain/body connection) into my personal and professional practice.

Lori is a clinical social worker who holds a bachelor’s degree in Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies, a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work. Lori is also one of Newfoundland and Labrador's only Canadian Certified Play Therapists, through the Canadian Association for Play Therapy. Lori has completed certification requirements in AUT-Play Therapy (c) (Play Therapy for neurodivergent children and adolescents together with their families) completed the Shanker Self-Reg (R) Foundations Certificate through The MEHRIT Center and is also an EMDR trained clinician.
