This EMDRIA approved training includes 2 x 3 day sessions, consisting of 42 hours of presenting content including lecture, demos, video, and discussion; 20 hours of practicum, a pre study taking approximately 12 hours; as well as 10 hours of consultation (In group before the 2nd session and via the online forum). A secure online forum is provided with numerous resources and case consultation opportunities. An extra practicum (3hrs) is optional at the end of session one for those wanting to deepen their skills, observe more demos, practice the skills in triads, and clarify material.

 

The course instructor, Sue Genest, specializes in EMDR and complex trauma. She is a senior EMDR Certified Therapist, EMDRIA Approved Consultant, and EMDRIA Training Provider. She has a extensive background in body psychotherapies including Hakomi Body Psychotherapy and Psoma Therapy. Sue has taken many advanced trainings in dissociation, ego state work, IFS, structural dissociation, working with attachment wounds, EMDR early trauma protocol, etc. She has had the privilege of learning  from Dakota, Cree, Ojibwa, and Blackfoot Elders and has been given a Dakota name and blessings from Blackfoot Elders to teach in their territories. Sue is also a Reiki Master, Shaman, and incorporates years of mental health work in the Children’s hospital, Medical Faculty, Corrections, and teaching in University, in her practice and teaching approach. The diversity of humanity is welcomed and celebrated in her trainings. Trainees are encouraged to develop personally and professionally to advance their understanding of EMDR and non violent clinical practice.

Session 1 is sufficient for work with uncomplicated Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in most clients.

Online Forum (Between sessions & 2 months after training)

Group Consultation between sessions

Session 2 is necessary for working effectively with more complex cases, special populations and more severe, longstanding, or complicated psychopathologies.
